Friz Quadrata Font

About the font

The Friz Quadrata Font is one of the most famous typefaces in the world. It is a glyphic sans serif typeface.

Ernst Friz designed the font for Visual Graphics Corporation in 1978. He’s a Swedish type designer. Another name associated with this font is Victor Caruso. He’s a New York-based advertising designer associated with Photo-Lettering Inc.

Adobe and ITC published the font in 1978 and 1985. However, later, the charge of styling this font was taken by Victor Caruso and Ernst Friz, and then it was released by Linotype Foundry and ITC Foundry.

The font has 234 glyphs and 1000 units per EM with 494 characters. The font has horizontal but no kerning and a fixed width. However, this font is scalable. However, because of the level of detail and graphic weight, it is often used as a display font for short texts and headlines.

Afterwards, ITC then arranged with VGC so that Victor Caruso could add a bold weight to the original. Finally, in 1992, French designer Thierry Puyfoulhoux designed italic weights for actual and bold weights.

The font is available in 2 styles and two versions. 1.0 and 2.0.
