About Didot Font
Adrian Frutiger presented the amazing Didot Font by Monotype Foundry. Originally, the Didot style was created by Firmin Didot. In 1849, Firmin Didot and his brother Pierre Didot created a font typeface to revolutionize the printing industry. He created the name from his last name and “d’Ivoire,” which means white. In Paris, he forged and lowered the letter, which was later used for printing by his brother Pierre Didot. The font is characterized by compact letter-forms and vertical stress, providing a “modern” look. It became a standard in France, as well as in Russia and Poland. Later, Adrian Frutiger modified and provided the Didot Regular Font in 1991.
In 2008, the Didot typeface became available for digital use, making it easier to incorporate into design projects.
The font was originally designed for the French Royal Family but quickly became popular among printers because of its clarity and readability. Didot is a delicate French typeface with a look often described as “feminine.” The variety of 41 styles of the Didot font family has the resource to use in any section, including design and text purposes.
Usage
Though it became mainly used for body text, people also used it for larger headlines or logos. This typeface is commonly seen on wedding invitations, social stationery, and business cards. The font is very fashionable in its structure and outlook.
The Didot font is good-looking and stylish for both design and text purposes. As the font is free, you can use the font anywhere you want without a license.
At the beginning of the font’s history, it was mostly used for printing, and it remains the same. Today, print media use this font even more than in the old days.
