Verdana font was manufactured and designed by Matthew Carter in 1996. It’s a humanist sans-serif typeface that was hand-hinted by Thomas Rickner. At that time, Thomas Rickner was in the monotype company.
Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer and the typography group recognized the importance of this font and developed it for Microsoft.
Verdana Font Family has four versions (Subfamily):
- Verdana – with 895 chars
- Verdana Bold – with 677 chars
- Verdana Regular – with 242 chars
- Verdana Bold TTF – with 895 chars
Verdana is a trademark by the Microsoft group of companies. The current version of this font is Version 5.31.
Many similar humanist fonts like Frutiger, Hermes maia, Concourse, Alright Sans, Sweet Sans, Breuer, etc.
