Lightbox 21 Sans Serif Font Family is a major improvement over the designer’s previous geometric sans serif. The original Lightbox’s design was mainly centered on the notion of combining the proportions of the ‘Golden Ratio’ into each letterform; Lightbox 21 vastly improves on this concept by discarding it totally. As a consequence, the font is considerably more readable and ‘natural,’ retaining features of the original but without being restricted by it.
Overall, Lightbox 21 was created to transmit the timeless feel of a geometric sans that makes the genre lasting and flexible, as well as to provide an easy feeling of sophistication to whatever they are applied to.
Lightbox 21 features a relatively broad character set, which includes support for Vietnamese, several financial symbols, arrows, and tiny capitals. It is mostly meant for editorial work (i.e. short to medium-length texts) or display settings. It also has OpenType support for nut fractions (through a stylistic set), as well as a barred alternative capital I and a curled alternate j.
