Optima is a sans-serif font designed by Hermann Zapf in the 1950s. It is a typeface that is both legible and aesthetically pleasing. However, Optima can also be considered serifless, even though it is most often grouped with sans-serif typefaces. It comes in a wide range of weights and styles, making it a good choice for many different projects.

In April 2010, Linotype released a Cyrillic version of the original Optima family in OpenType Pro format. There are four available fonts: Optima Pro Cyrillic Roman, Oblique, Bold, and Bold Oblique. Optima contains 24 styles, 6 widths, and italics options.

Because of its Roman heritage, Optima has full-bodied, wide characters (especially in the capitals). The forms of E, F, and L are narrow. There is a slight tilt to the right of the cap S in Optima. This font has a splayed M and an N with slightly vertical strokes like a serif design. In Optima, both the lowercase a and g are two-storied for easy legibility.

Usage

It was created for use in advertising and was intended to be easy to read at small sizes. Today, Optima is used for both print and digital media. It is well suited for text and display settings, making it a versatile font for various applications. Optima is also a viable choice for both online and print projects.

Linotype created the Cyrillic version of Optima to be a versatile font that you could use in many different types of applications. It has all of the features that are included in its Latin counterpart, including small caps, ordinals, fractions, and many other features. In addition to these features, it also supports diacritics when using Cyrillic fonts. There is also a web font for use on websites or blogs that need to support Cyrillic languages.
