Font Specimen

Alex Brush font specimen showing alphabet, numbers, and sample text

Details

Alex Brush is Robert E. Leuschke’s connected brush script with unusually restrained ascenders and descenders. It reads as elegant handwriting, but the compact vertical reach keeps a name or invitation line easier to place than many sprawling formal scripts.

What the reviewed file shows

The specimen shows high stroke contrast, looped capitals and continuous lowercase joins. The capital A enters with a long swash, B and R carry large bowls, and the lowercase r and s stay relatively compact. The baseline remains steady even while the terminals sweep outward, so title case is more reliable than a line of capitals.

Use Alex Brush for a person’s name, invitation heading, product variant, quote accent or one short signature-style line. It should not carry addresses, dates or body instructions at a small size. Give the first and last letters room, and place functional information in a simple serif or sans serif beside it.

License and source record

Alex Brush is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The official project repository includes the source, built fonts and license. The OFL permits broad document and project use, while redistribution or modification of the font software must keep the license conditions and must not sell the font by itself.

The official Google Fonts project describes Alex Brush as a flowing brush script whose short ascenders and descenders improve legibility compared with many scripts. The local version and glyph count were read from the reviewed TTF, so this page does not claim styles that are absent from that file.

Practical preview checks

Type the exact name, including punctuation, at the final size. Check whether the leading capital overwhelms the lowercase letters and whether the final swash is clipped. Avoid artificial bolding, which can close the thin counters and spoil joins.
