Curated starting points

Load a tested role structure

Each preset uses two exact catalog families: one for display and one for reading. Interface text follows the body family by default to keep the system coherent and light.

Typography gives every idea a voice.

Great pairings create contrast without conflict. A distinctive heading earns attention while a quieter text face makes longer reading comfortable.

Transparent guidance

Pairing checks — not a confidence score

The checks use visible settings, family count, recorded license status, and WCAG text contrast. They do not claim that taste can be reduced to a percentage.

    Export the type system

CSS export contains family names, fallbacks, sizes, and variables. It deliberately excludes preview-file URLs: self-host or load fonts only when their recorded licenses permit it.

    Files, state, and privacy

Where your work goes — and when it clears

    Working state

Your selected families, specimen text, and settings stay in this browser tab. FreeFontsVault does not save a pairing project. Refreshing, navigating away, or closing the tab clears it.

    Preview fonts and cache

The browser requests approved font files for previews. Page memory is released after the page closes; the browser may retain ordinary cached copies until its cache policy or your browser-data controls clear them.

    Downloaded files

CSS, JSON, and PNG files go to the download location configured in your browser and remain there until you or your operating system deletes them. Clear workspace cannot delete downloaded files.

    How the pairing checks work

The studio checks role separation, family economy, body-size and line-height settings, recorded license clarity, and text/background contrast. “Review” means use your judgment or confirm missing information; it is not a failure or an invented AI score.

    Before loading the exported CSS

The export never hotlinks FreeFontsVault preview files and never grants font rights. Visit each linked font page, confirm web embedding and redistribution permission, then self-host or use an authorized provider.

    Questions and limits

    Frequently asked questions

What makes two fonts a good pair?

Useful systems give roles a clear hierarchy without unnecessary font files: a distinctive display face, a comfortable reading face, and usually the reading face again for interface labels. Judge the real layouts and transparent checks rather than a percentage.

Where are exported pairing files saved?

They are saved to the download location configured in your browser. FreeFontsVault does not receive or retain a copy, and the downloaded file remains until you or your operating system deletes it.

How long does my pairing stay saved?

It is not saved as a project. The current working state exists in this tab and clears when you refresh, navigate away, or close it. Your browser may separately retain ordinary cached preview-font responses.

    What does Clear workspace remove?

It removes the current selections, text, and settings from the tool. It cannot delete CSS, JSON, or PNG files that are already in your Downloads folder; reload the page to release its preview-font memory.

Can I export the pairing to CSS?

Yes. The safe CSS export contains family names, fallback stacks, sizes, and custom properties but no font-file hotlinks. You must separately obtain and host each font under terms that permit web embedding.

    Are pairing result pages indexed?

No. Your working combination stays in the browser and does not create a thin or public programmatic result URL.
