Mrs Eaves Font is a transitional serif typeface that has captured the hearts of designers and typographers around the world. Designed by the talented Zuzana Licko in 1996, this font is a modern adaptation of the Baskerville typeface, which originated in Birmingham, England, in the 1750s.
The original designer of this Mrs Eaves small-caps font was John Baskerville. In 1757, he created this font in Birmingham, England, and named it after his wife, Sarah Eaves. Zuzana Licko redesigned the font with the original face in 1996.
Baskerville wanted to create a flawless font style that was often criticized for accuracy, sharpness, and difficulty reading. Zuzana Licko reduced the contrast of the font so that it doesn’t spread ink on the printed format. Moreover, he also gave Mrs Eaves Fonts the appearance of small capital letters. She later presented the font at a competition in 1999 and won first place for its placement in a context. The font has since been expanded to include an ‘XL’ version for body text and a Sans-Serif companion named Mr Eaves.
Mrs Eaves font has both a free version and a paid version. You can use the free version for personal use. But, for commercial use, you have to purchase the license from the distributor. The font is integrated with Microsoft Word software, and it is also included in the Adobe font libraries.
