I Love NY Font

I Love NY campaign is a famous public relations and marketing campaign created in 1977 by the New York State Department of Economic Development. The campaign’s goal was to promote tourism to the state of New York, particularly to New York City.

It features a slogan, a logo, and a song that is widely recognized worldwide. They hired the marketing firm of Wells, Rich, Greene under the direction of Mary Wells Lawrence.

The I Love NY logo was the centerpiece of the campaign. Milton Glaser designed this font for the campaign. The logo consists of the capital letter I, followed by a red heart symbol, and then the letters NY, which stands for New York. He used a slab-serif for I Love NY, and it is called American Typewriter. Milton selected this font specifically to design the logo. Interestingly, there’s another font called New York font but it has no relation with this one.
